Mini Bank

 

In OSCB's endeavour to promote the resource mobilisation by the Coop-Banking Sector in Orissa , the OSC Bank encouraged the Central Co-operative Banks since 1990-91 to introduce prospective new deposite schemes such as daily deposits, pension schemes etc .

At the rural growth centres, PACS were identified and "Minibank" were opend to tap surplus saving at village level. The OSC Bank framed a Model Rule for operation of Mini Banks which has been approved by the Register, Coop. Societies Orissa vide letter No. 18315 dt 7.9.96. The OSCB has communicated the printed MINI BANK rules from dt 13.2 97 .

The Apex, in Bank in its endeavor to promote resource mobilisation, encouraged the Central Co-operative Banks to introduce new deposit schemes such as Insurance Linked Deposit Schemes, Daily Deposit Schemes,Pension Schemes etc. and advise the Central Coop. Banks to identify the potential centres to open Mini Banks at PACS level to mobilise rural . The Orissa State Co-operative Bank have introduced a Model Rule for operation of Mini Banks duly approved by RCS, the ( Orissa )and communicated the printed rules to all concerned. All the 810 Mini BAnks operating in the State are being guided by the Mini Bank Rules .

Assistance from Coop. Development Fund of NABARD for infrastructure development of PACS operating MIni Banks

In order to supplement the efforts of PACS to boost up rural savings, OSCB's proposal for infrastructure development has been favourably considered by NABARD and they have provided Rs.120.00 lakh in two phases for infrastructure development of 219PACS / LAMP. Orissa State Co-operative Bank and the Central Coop. Banks have contrubuted Rs.30.00 lakh and 10.00 lakh responsibility for the above purpose as per CDF scheme of NABARD .

OSCB also undertaking publicity of the plans and programmes through electronic media for deposit mobilisation of CCB's and Mni Banks with the financial assistance from NABARD.
